Why We Publish This

You should be able to trust a trivia answer without looking it up afterwards. This page sets out how we try to earn that.

Where Our Questions Come From

Our questions are written in-house. Facts are checked against reference works, official sources, scientific literature, museum and institutional material, and reputable published reporting — not against whatever a search engine returns first.

We’re wary of the internet’s favourite “fun facts.” A large number of the most widely shared ones are wrong, exaggerated, or true only with a caveat nobody repeats. If we can’t stand a claim up, we don’t use it, however good the question would have been.

How We Check Facts

Every question is verified before it publishes, and every long-form article is reviewed by an editor. Where a fact is disputed, contested between sources, or true only under specific conditions, we either say so plainly or leave it out.

When We Get It Wrong

We will get things wrong sometimes. Anyone publishing this much material will, and pretending otherwise would be silly.

What we commit to is this: we work hard to avoid mistakes in the first place, and when one slips through we fix it as fast as we can. We correct the question or article, and where the error was substantial we say what changed. We don’t quietly delete things and hope nobody noticed.
